Music for meditation and relaxing

Life could be stressful nowadays in a society which is increasingly emphasizing on pace and efficiency. When stress level gets too high, we need to release it from inside otherwise it may lead to serious consequences like depression or illnesses. There are many ways to relax from stress, and one very effective way is through music.

What kind of music can relax you from stresses?

For me, it is definitely not those highly infectious pop, commercial R&B's or funked rock. Not classical music of Mozart or Debussy either. They are too "intelligent" for me to really appreciate. I do listen to them occasionally though.

Maria Duval has recommended music for meditation which can help a person to meditate and relax. I did a search, and discover that there are really some gems in this kind of music. Many spiritualists around preach this kind of music - a food for the brain - for meditation, reiki, yoga or some healing ceremonies. The main motive for listening to it is to, simply, SLOW DOWN. In the end, healing music infuses the listener with a sense of beauty, joy and peace.

For a start, there are some free meditation music on the internet. There are even podcasts for meditation to guide a personal through meditation. In this way, one won't feel that bored or lonely.

One of my personal favourite podcast is Positive Thinking from The Meditation Podcast - Music, imagery, Audio Technology - Free download to iPod or computer. While you meditate, the guide will narrate to you the meditation process and allows you to visualize whatever it is you want in your life...in your case, it would be a overcoming anxiety, shyness or building confidence, or simply, to connect with your inner guide.

Good luck!
