Maria Duval - Guarding our thoughts

Maria Duval always says watching and guarding our thoughts is as important as eating or sleeping. Because thoughts determine how we turn out to be in reality.

To put it simply, after these few months of learning and understanding, I come to realise that most people do not watch their own thoughts and constantly focusing on what they DON'T WANT. Unfortunately, what they don't want are usually what they will get in life! In the end, people suffered and they start to blame their woes on EVERYTHING for their own plight. I admit the society needs to be compassionate towards such people, however, they need to know intently that they need to think of the abundance of the universe rather than the opposite.

Maria Duval on Prejudices

Maria Duval has always advised me not to make any kind of prejudice against anyone. That means shouldn't pass an early unfair remark to a person when I haven't even known him or her well yet. That's amounts to sentencing without proof and can harm people through rumours being spread.

I do know that certain people because of their own bitter experiences, chose to discharge their negativities through prejudice about other people. Maybe that means them fee better. Or they feel good to see someone being victimised like himself or herself.

If there's one situation in life that make us humans hard to accept, that is when time comes to acknowledge own wrongs. It takes a lot of courage to do that I admit. There is this problem of pride. And because of pride people can just shift the blame to another unfortunate person.

There are even people who are overly sure of their own judgement that they don't realise their own misconception can damage many people. Words can be mightier than swords.

Finally I agree with Maria Duval who says that anyone who tends to have prejudices, and to spread them will also cause problems in their own life. Maybe not now, but in the future.

Climbing out "beanstalk" without fear

I am sure you have heard of this story called "Jack and the Beanstalk". It had left a poignant mark in my young mind and I always imagined where the beanstalk could lead too in the "heaven" and whether there was a Giant up there hiding in the sky.

On a deeper thought, the fairytale proves to be an inspirational account of how Jack wanted something to help his family so much that he displayed couraged and wits to overcome the Giant. Of course Jack had the luck to be helped by the Giant's wife twice. Controversially, some argued that the story was unethical was it was about a story of greed. Well, it sort of as Jack was somewhat greedy to go up for the third time when he already had the gold coins and the hen that laid golden eggs. But I'll prefer to look at it at the "courage" point of view.

There was a strong spirit to want something badly that made Jack went through the dangers. Isn't life the same? To get something in life, we have to brave the uncertainties and dangers to achieve it. Yet we need to maintain the direction of what we want. When we have what we want in life, we help our loved ones to have a better life.

Imagine the intense anxiety and helplessness when Jack was climbing as he knew what he would meet ahead or what he would discover once he arrived at his destination, but his determination was not swayed by fear. He continued to strive on. Even when he came face to face with the Giant, he did not allow that huge obstacle to stop him. He had a PURPOSE.

We need to maintain our motivation when we are facing difficult time. I know it is just too easy to throw in the towels in such situations. I myself have done it many times in life and when I look back, I wish I had persisted on to see how it would turn out. Maria Duval advises us to keep motivated on times of challenges as that is one of the factors of successes. And, once we hit our stride, keeping the momentum will become much easier.

So let us all use a little magic to get us started on the climb upward to our destiny or to pick us up and set us back on track. There are treasures waiting for us ahead if we persist on.

a brief writeup of NLP

Today I'll write a brief article here about NLP, Neuro Linguistic Programming.

Inspired by Maria Duval, I have been learning about NLP, as few months.

When you see this pseudo, 'neuro', I'm sure you know it is aobut your mind or brain. Yes, that's right.

Right, NLP simply means 'programming' of our mind and our body language (linguistic) so that we can achieve optimum psychological and behaviorial performance. For example, how we can use NLP knowledge to tune our mind so that we perform optimally just before a singing competition!!

NLP relates to our nervous system through the five senses of sight, hearing, touch, smell and taste. It give us the tools for personal change so that we live the life we truly deserve. Whether that be in our health, relationships or careers.

In addition to therapy, NLP has been used successfully in sales, business, education and many other vocations and to me that's a brief history of NLP to date.

For example, you can use NLP to program yourself to be happy. Do this simple exercise. Recall a time in the past when you were happy. Run this picture clearly in your mind and hear whatever you told to yourself. Check the facial expression you had during that time and have them now as thought the event is happening right now. Make the pictures clear and bright, intensify the feeling of Happiness inside you growing more and more.

As you see the difference in your intensity of happiness, see the vibrant colour inside you engulfing more energy and Happiness inside you. As you feel happy now you can continue holding on to this feeling however long you want.

See its usefulness?
